This privacy policy applies to the Android application Marea y Clima, identified by the package name:

com.enigmasnomadas.mareayclima

2. Purpose of the application

Marea y Clima provides weather and marine information, forecasts, wind, tides, sea conditions, ultraviolet index, Sun and Moon data, and configurable alerts.

The application uses only the data required to provide these features.

3. Accounts and personal information

Marea y Clima does not require users to create an account or sign in.

The application does not directly request:

The application does not contain user profiles, subscriptions, in-app purchases or authentication systems.

4. Device location

Marea y Clima may request optional access to the device’s approximate and precise location when the user selects My location.

Location is used to:

Precise location helps distinguish nearby towns, beaches and ports correctly and improves the matching of altitude and weather data.

Location use is optional. Users can search for and manually select a town or beach without using the device’s location.

The application does not request permanent or background location permission, does not perform continuous tracking, and does not obtain new GPS positions while the user is not using the relevant feature.

5. Stored coordinates and alerts

When the user selects a destination, Marea y Clima may store locally:

Although the application does not query GPS again in the background, it may use previously stored coordinates to update the information required for weather, marine or tide alerts configured by the user.

6. External services

To provide its features, Marea y Clima accesses external services through encrypted HTTPS connections.

Open-Meteo Weather

The application may send the following to Open-Meteo:

The service returns weather information such as temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, atmospheric pressure, ultraviolet index, and hourly and daily forecasts.

Open-Meteo Marine

The application may send the coordinates of a beach or marine point to obtain information such as:

Open-Meteo Geocoding

When the user manually searches for a town, the text entered may be sent to Open-Meteo’s geographical search service.

This service may return:

Instituto Hidrográfico de la Marina

To obtain tide predictions, the application may send the following to the service of the Instituto Hidrográfico de la Marina:

The user’s coordinates are not included directly in these requests. The nearest port is selected within the application.

Android geocoding service

The application may use the geocoding service provided by Android or by the device manufacturer to convert coordinates into town, province, region or country names.

The specific provider of this service may vary depending on the device, Android version and system configuration.

When connecting to these services, their servers technically receive the IP address required to establish communication.

7. Purposes of processing

Information processed by Marea y Clima is used exclusively to:

Data is not used for advertising, commercial tracking, advertising profiling or the sale of personal information.

8. Local storage

Logs are not automatically sent to Enigmas Nómadas or to an external analytics platform.

They can be deleted using the relevant function in the application, by clearing its data in Android settings, or by uninstalling it.

10. Notifications

Notifications are optional and are generated locally on the device.

Marea y Clima does not use Firebase Cloud Messaging, push notification tokens or its own server to send alerts.

Users can disable notifications within the application or in Android settings.

11. Advertising, analytics and tracking

Marea y Clima:

12. Security

13. Android backups and transfers

Marea y Clima excludes the local database, preferences, coordinates, destinations, favourites, caches, technical histories and diagnostic logs from backups and transfers between devices. After reinstalling the application or changing device, users will need to configure these items again.

14. Retention and deletion

Data is stored mainly on the device for as long as necessary to provide the selected features.

Users can delete information by:

Clearing the data or uninstalling the application deletes the local database, preferences, destinations, caches and logs stored by the application on that device.
